Atlanta Thrashers And Florida Panthers Tied 2-2 After Two

Forward and recent healthy scratch Fredrik Modin has both goals for Atlanta tonight, as the Thrashers are allowing themselves to be outshot by another absurd margin. After just two periods, it’s already 33 shots for Florida to 12 shots for Atlanta. Luckily, Chris Mason thrives in high-shot situations. Also luckily, both goals on Mason have been long range deflections, so his two soft goals of the night should be out of his system.

Modin’s first goal of the night came to tie the game at 1-1 at 19:54 of the first period on an outstanding feed from Dustin Byfuglien. That marked Modin’s second goal of the year and Byfuglien’s eleventh point. Modin scored again at 9:51 on a behind the net assist by Eric Boulton, whose own goal was disallowed moments earlier due to the net having come loose before the puck went in the net.

The Florida goals came from Jason Garrison and Steven Reinprecht. Ben Eager also was tied up in the Thrashers’ first fight of the season with Bryan Allen.
