Atlanta Thrashers Score: Islanders Lead Thrashers 1-0 After One Period

The Thrashers successfully killed a four minute high-sticking minor on Nik Antropov and a five on three after Rich Peverley got called for boarding three minutes into Antropov’s penalty, but could not convert on the powerplay.

An atrocious turn-over at the blueline by Antropov in the Atlanta zone allowed Steve Schremp to steal the puck, pass it to Blake Comeau, who then got it to Matt Martin. Martin squeezed the puck between Chris Mason’s pad and the post to make the game 1-0, and that’s where the game stands.

The Thrashers so far are being outshot by the Islanders 11-8 after a very very flat period for the Atlanta team.
