Jason Arnott is a hero in New Jersey for his double overtime Stanley Cup winning goal in 2000. A lot of time has passed, and he might be a little slower, but he has a hand in both of the Devils goals so far tonight. His big body knocked Thrashers defenseman Freddy Meyer off of the puck behind the Thrashers net as he circled back to try to find an open passing lane. Arnott snatched the puck from Meyer, passed it to Devils’ captain Jamie Langenbrunner who shot it past Chris Mason to put the Devils up 2-0.
The Thrashers look tired so far, probably more because of the busy December schedule in general than from playing in a back to back. Luckily for Atlanta, the Devils haven’t scored more than two goals in a game since December 4th in a 5-3 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers.
