Carey Price started the second period looking like the goalie MVP of the game, but that fell apart by the end of the period as Team Lidstrom tagged him for three goals. Jonas Hiller has allowed two goals: one to MVP frontrunner Patrick Sharp and one to Kris Letang, who probably confused all of Pens Nation by scoring with help from Daniel Sedin and hated rival Alexander Ovechkin.
Team Lidstrom scored three goals in a row to take the lead: Anze Kopitar scored his second of the game; Steven Stamkos scored one from his patented position at the empty side of the net to Price’s left thanks to a feed from teammate Martin St. Louis; and Danny Briere capped off the scoring with an assist from Daniel Sedin.
Dustin Byfuglien finished the period with 15:14 of ice time so far, still leading all players for the game. He and Duncan Keith are a combined -3, though the worst on the ice belongs to Eric Staal who is a -4. Nicklas Lidstrom and Shea Weber are both +5. a game best.
