The Thrashers continue to get banged up and knocked around. Alex Burmistrov has a broken bone in his foot thanks to a Zach Bogosian slap shot, and Fredrik Modin is still banged up from the game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Both of them have been placed on the injured reserve, according to Ben Wright of the Blueland Blog. Foward Nigel Dawes has been recalled from the Chicago Wolves for the road trip. Dawes has an assist and is a -6 in nine games with the Thrashers.
Also recently recalled is defenseman Paul Postma. Postma, a native of Red Deer, Alberta might play his first NHL game in front of his family on Saturday when the Thrashers play the Edmonton Oilers in an afternoon match. Postma has eight goals and twenty-nine assists so far this season for the Wolves, and he brings an obvious offensive element to the defensive corps. For a team whose initial successes depended on scoring from the blueline, this is a welcome addition for the Thrashers.
