NHL Standings, Southeast Division: Thrashers Are Running Out Of Time

There are just two and a half weeks or so left until April 10th - the last day of the regular season. As of right now, the Thrashers are firmly six points out with ten games remaining - they could have been but two, but decided to massively implode in Buffalo against the Sabres on Saturday night instead of winning. If that's not a hallmark of the Thrashers as a team over the past eleven seasons, I don't know what is.

If they keep playing like this, the Thrashers'll finish beneath the Florida Panthers, who are four points behind. So much for this being the best team that this organization's iced. The ability's there - where's the drive? The Carolina Hurricanes are two points back and have battled all season long.

The Washington Capitals are just two points behind the Philadelphia Flyers for the Eastern Conference lead - they can afford to rest Alexander Ovechkin for a game or two.
