Tom Glavine Has Met With Atlanta Thrashers Ownership, Officials

We know Atlanta Braves hero* Tom Glavine has voiced his support of keeping the Atlanta Thrashers in the Peach State, but what steps is he taking to that end? While he's already cautioned that he doesn't have the money to buy the team himself, he has met with Atlanta Spirit Group co-owner Michael Gearon, Jr., team president Don Waddell, and team officials in some capacity, according to a story by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Chris Viviamore.

Think Glavine doesn't have experience dealing with ownership groups? You'll recall he spent 1994 tangling with MLB owners as the Braves' player representative. Before we get all sidetracked and start ranting about player strikes and so forth, let's focus on the matter at hand: Glavine's actually pretty tested at this stuff, and his name matters around Atlanta.

* This city wouldn't have a major pro sports championship without Glavine, y'all. Hi, Winnipeg: just said, "y'all."
