At least the Carolina Hurricanes haven't quite given up on their Atlanta Thrashers neighbors yet, despite the increasingly dire situation:
RALEIGH, NC - Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the Hurricanes will play an exhibition game on Sept. 25 against the Atlanta Thrashers at Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, NC. Time Warner Cable Arena serves as the home of the Hurricanes' American Hockey League affiliate Charlotte Checkers, as well as the National Basketball Association's Charlotte Bobcats.
Game time for the exhibition contest has been set for 5 p.m., and tickets start at just $20. A special pre-sale for Charlotte Checkers and Carolina Hurricanes season ticket holders will be held from July 6-8, and tickets will go on sale to the general public on July 12 via Ticketmaster (800-745-3000). Though, of course, the hypothetical Winnipeg Jets could participate in that game just as well as the Thrashers could.
