Tom Glavine Not Out Of Thrashers Relocation Story Yet, According To Report

On the long and curious list of rumored and reported Atlanta Thrashers ownership candidates, one name has resonated with local fans more than any other has: Tom Glavine's. The Atlanta Braves star has already helped give the city its only major league championship. But despite his hockey pedigree, he's been quiet in recent weeks. Is he out of the picture?

Not entirely, according to a pair of tweets by TSN 1050's Scott MacArthur, who says former Atlanta Flames goalie Dan Bouchard passed along word during a Monday radio appearance that Glavine is still trying to rally businesspeople in an effort to keep the Thrashers.

Glavine made it clear when his name first arose that he doesn't have the kind of money it would take to buy the team for himself, but that he hopes to do what he can to help the team stay in Atlanta. One of the prime challenges facing the Thrashers has been a relative lack of corporate support compared to the city's other pro teams.
