Thrashers President Don Waddell Says Team Is Exploring 'All Options'

The rumors are starting to fly around rather quickly that the Atlanta Thrashers ownership group Atlanta Spirit is in negotiations to sell the team to a group that would move the team to Winnipeg. There have been no confirmations by either the buyers or the sellers that these negotiations have been ongoing, but there have been enough reports about the negotiations that we can assume they are in fact taking place.

Trashers president Don Waddell didn't say one way or another that the two sides are in direct negotiations, but he did not deny that they are exploring options that would include selling the team to this ownership group; via The Hockey News. Thrashers Co-Owner was a little bit more forthcoming, but he still didn't give too much away.

"We've never commented, and aren't going to start now, on who we're talking to or not talking to," Levenson told The Associated Press. "Even if I wanted to, I can't, because whenever we engage in any kinds of serious discussions with anybody, we sign confidentiality agreements. We always honor those."

So, to recap. Nothing definite yet. But there is a ton of smoke surrounding these negotiations. It would be naive to think it isn't accompanied by at least a little fire.
