Todd Gurley has recently drawn praise from Georgia coach Mark Richt not only for his work on the field, but in the classroom. Gurley was dominant in last Saturday's season opener when he rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns while also returning a kickoff 100 yards for a score. Gurley also has recently received A's in the classroom according to Richt:

"He has a good attitude and he doesn’t seem to have any type of entitlement issues," Richt said. "But if a guy starts having a lot of success early, it can maybe change him or make him feel too comfortable, too. I haven’t sat down with him and talked, but we will keep an eye on him."

Richt went on to say that despite Gurley's performance, Ken Malcolme is still the starting tailback. Georgia opens SEC play this Saturday at Missouri, and Malcome is also battling a wrist injury sustained against Buffalo.

Quarterback Ben McLane struggled in his first collegiate start Saturday in Georgia State's 33-6 loss to South Carolina State, but the Panthers have not lost faith in the young signal-caller. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, McLane will be the starter this week when Goergia State visits the Tennessee Volunteers in a major road test:

Tackle Grant King said it doesn’t matter how long McLane holds onto the ball, the line needs to keep defenders off him. King, who has started 23 consecutive games at right tackle, said the line needs to focus and get their minds right.

"A lot of guys were somewhat inexperienced and we are trying to overcome that right now," he said.

McLane completed just 7 of 15 passes for 54 yards and was sacked five times. He did not throw any interceptions, however. Running back Donald Russell rushed for 120 yards on 12 carries and could be used more to take the pressure off McLane.

The Georgia Bulldogs are hope to have two key players return from injuries when they travel to Missouri to welcome the Tigers into the SEC. Malcolm Mitchell and Marlon Brown both returned to practice Tuesday, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Cornerback Malcolm Mitchell returned to practice Tuesday in a green, non-contact jersey. The sophomore from Valdosta was a late scratch this past Saturday after spraining his left ankle in last Thursday’s "walk-through" practice. Richt said earlier in the day Tuesday he was "hopeful" both Mitchell and right tackle John Theus (ankle) will be able to play. Neither Theus nor backup tackle Watts Dantzler, who also has an ankle injury, were able to practice on Tuesday. More than likely they were getting treatment in the training room.

Brown missed Saturday's opener against Buffalo with a strained hamstring. Running back Ken Malcome is expected to play through a hand injury suffered in that game.

The Bulldogs opened as a 5.5 point favorite, but they have already opened that up to a 6.5 favorite line according to Oddsshark, SB Nation's official odds partner:

Supporters of the Bulldogs have seen them go 9-2 and 7-4 ATS so far this season, while the Yellow Jackets are at 8-3 and 5-5-1 ATS. In totals betting, the Yellow Jackets are 7-4, while the Bulldogs are 5-6.

While it seems like bragging rights are the only thing on the line for both schools, that is more than enough in this rivalry. Georgia can still qualify for a BCS bowl game with a win in the SEC championship game, while Georgia Tech has seen its ACC championship game hopes end. Georgia is going for its 10th win of the season as well.
