MLB Standings: Braves still have faint chance at NL East crown

The Atlanta Braves need to sweep the Pittsburgh Pirates, and need the Washington Nationals to be swept, in order to force a 163rd game to decide the NL East champion.

Steve Mitchell-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Though it's a longshot, the Atlanta Braves still have an outside chance of capturing the NL East crown, as the season enters its final three games.

The Braves need to sweep the Pittsburgh Pirates, and need the Philadelphia Phillies to sweep the Washington Nationals just to force a tie atop the NL East standings. Should that occur, the two teams will face off on Thursday to determine the NL East champion, with the loser playing in the wild card round.
