B.J. Upton is the newest member of the Atlanta Braves.
According to multiple reports on Wednesday evening, Upton and the Braves have agreed to a deal pending the completion of a physical. The terms of the deal have not been released, although sources believe it will be a five-year deal worth $14 million to $15 million annually.
A press conference to officially introduce Upton will be held on Thursday afternoon in Atlanta.
Upton made the trip to Atlanta and met with many members of the Braves' organization last week, including manager Fredi Gonzalez and former manager Bobby Cox. All reports indicated Upton was blown away by the trip, and it was likely what pushed the Braves ahead of the Phillies for his services.
This is a big day for general manager Frank Wren. For the first time in quite a few years, he had money to spend in the offseason. Upton has been their guy from the very beginning of the winter, and they made an aggressive push for him.
More to come shortly.
