The Atlanta Falcons pulled out a hard-fought 19-13 victory over the desperate Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night. With the win, the Falcons kept their undefeated record intact, moving to 8-0 at the halfway point of the season.
Atlanta has not made things easy on the path to 8-0, winning five of its eight games by a touchdown or less. The close win over the struggling Cowboys may not seem all that satisfying, as there are some who feel the Falcons should have won more handily.
But Dave Choate of SB Nation's Falcons blog The Falcoholic does not feel that way, and is accepting the win for what it was:
Yet for the first time this season, I'm not going to let that get to me. There are problems and mistakes to correct, and I'm not going to turn a blind eye to them at all. Only a fool gets too comfortable with winning, even if they are 8-0. Instead, I'm going to focus on the fact that the Falcons won an extremely gutsy football team against a desperate squad that needed a victory so badly you could see it in their bearing. Your old Falcons might have folded in those same circumstances.
While Atlanta has had its fair share of mistakes this season, all that matters is that it is 8-0. And as Choate points out, if the Falcons actually do put together four quarters of great football, the results will be scary for their opponent. Choate goes as far as saying that the Falcons would "torch any team in the NFL."
Atlanta continues to hold a four-game lead in the NFC South and will visit the New Orleans Saints in Week 10.
