The Atlanta Falcons are off their bye week and preparing for their game on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. While the Falcons have gotten off to a 6-0 start, they haven't played their best football over the last three games.
After practice today, head coach Mike Smith told reporters that he was trying to mitigate that by focusing on fundamentals.
"We spent more time in our individual periods today than we normally would to work on some of the fundamental things on offense, defense and special teams."
In their last three games, the Falcons have narrowly beaten the Carolina Panthers, Washington Redskins and Oakland Raiders. None of those teams have a winning record.
Later in his post-practice comments, Smith said that although the Philadelphia Eagles have a new defensive coordinator, the Falcons will not drastically change their preparation.
Sunday's game between the Falcons and Eagles will begin at 1 p.m. ET at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
