NFL Week 8 picks: Falcons vs. Eagles

The Atlanta Falcons are undefeated, but does that mean they're the favorites against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday?

Scott Cunningham

The Atlanta Falcons might be undefeated and facing a .500 team this week, but that doesn't mean much in the eyes of experts predicting this weekend's game.

The Falcons (6-0) will hit the road to play the Philadelphia Eagles (3-3) at 1 p.m. Sunday. Both teams are coming off a bye week.

SB Nation predicts a 21-17 win in favor of the Falcons:

Depending on which Eagles team shows up, this could be one of the better games of the week. Andy Reid sacrificed Juan Castillo last week, but the Eagles still have all kinds of problems, including an offense averaging almost three turnovers a game. Atlanta's defense just so happens to average the same number of takeaways.

But most other experts are either split or leaning toward the Eagles.

Eight of ESPN's 14 NFL experts predict the Eagles will win this weekend's matchup. Other than the Jets-Dolphins game, it is the most split game in the mind of ESPN's experts.

Two of the three experts at Yahoo have the Eagles winning, while the Yahoo users are leaning toward the Falcons.

At CBS Sports, five of the nine are leaning toward Philadelphia.

Why are the .500 Eagles being picked to win this week? Yahoo's Jordan Garretson wrote that Philadelphia is 13-0 immediately after a bye week in the Andy Reid era.
