Falcons vs. Redskins: Mike Smith, DeAngelo Hall settle differences

DeAngelo Hall and Mike Smith no longer have a beef, and the settlement all started with a few drinks, poolside in Hawaii.

Kevin Liles-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith and DeAngelo Hall got off on the wrong foot. They just barely missed each other when Smith took over the Falcons in 2008 and Hall was shipped out of town. And of course there was Hall's late hit on Matt Ryan in 2008 that led to a bit of a skirmish involving Hall and Smith.

But that's all water under the bridge now. Or maybe more appropriately, patron by the pool.

This was Hall speaking to the Associated Press:

"We're cool. We got a chance to sit and reminisce over some drinks out in Hawaii. I got a chance to be around that coaching staff and make our amends, me and him and the rest of the coaching staff. I'm excited to see those guys before the game and say: ‘What's up.' Make sure that everything is going good and make sure that their families are doing good before the whistle blows. When the whistle blows, he's going to want to kill me and I'm going to want to kill him."

Smith said that he made a point to approach Hall in a friendly way. He said they had a good conversation and gave respect to the time Hall has put in the league.
