Atlanta Falcons linebacker Sean Weatherspoon has missed his team's last two games because of an ankle injury, but head coach Mike Smith is hopeful that they'll be able to get Weatherspoon back on the field for their Week 11 game against Arizona. Weatherspoon's return may depend on how much he is able to do in practice this week.
"I am optimistic. Sean has worked extremely hard. He will get an opportunity the next 48 hours to do some field work and hopefully we’ll see where he’s at and get him out there on the field on Wednesday," Smith said Monday. "He’s done a nice job in his rehab. He’s been a great patient."
Weatherspoon injured the ankle against the Eagles on Oct. 28. He has 52 tackles this season -- including three sacks -- as well as one forced fumble.
The Falcons, who are coming off their first loss of the season, meet the Cardinals at 1 p.m. ET this Sunday.
