Atlanta hosts an Arizona Cardinals team this Sunday that features a pair of talented safeties. Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez said it might be the best safety tandem that his team has faced all season.
"They’ve got a real good safety tandem, probably the best that we’ve played so far this year," Gonzalez said. "It’s important that we know where they’re at, try to block them up in the run game and try to get open in the passing game."
The Cardinals are No. 2 in the NFL in passing defense, allowing an average of just 194.6 pass yards per game. They have intercepted nine passes and sacked opposing quarterbacks 27 times. The Cardinals are also No. 9 in total defense and No. 5 in points allowed per game.
Atlanta ranks among the league's top 10 in both total offense and scoring. Quarterback Matt Ryan has thrown 20 touchdown passes and seven interceptions. He is second in the NFL in passing yardage.
