Atlanta Falcons' tight end Tony Gonzalez needs just four more catches to put up his 15th straight year of catching 50 or more passes in a season.
With 46 catches for 459 yards in his first seven games, Gonzalez is on the cusp of keeping his remarkable streak going. The tight end is a big part of the offensive success for the undefeated Falcons (7-0), with four touchdown grabs and 34 first downs on his catches.
Gonzalez has seen his production decline somewhat over the past few years as age takes its toll on him; he's posted no more than 83 catches in a season since his last year with the Kansas City Chiefs (96 catches in 2008). He's on a more ferocious pace this year, however, with his current rate putting him on track for 105 catches by season's end. That would be a career-high for the 36-year-old Gonzalez.
Atlanta needs Gonzalez to produce at a high level against the Dallas Cowboys this Sunday. The Falcons will look for him to improve on his three catches from last week's matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.
