With Sunday's game at the Georgia Dome between the Atlanta Falcons and the New York Giants fast approaching, Falcons head coach Mike Smith spoke with reporters on Thursday. Some of the questions he answered involved players coming off or still recovering from injury such as wide receiver Roddy White who missed practice on Thursday because of a knee injury:
"Roddy felt much better today than he did yesterday. We're going to be cautious with Roddy, in terms of getting ready for the ballgame. He will probably not do a whole lot tomorrow or Saturday. Then, we'll get him out there on Sunday to see where he's at. It's hard to keep Roddy White out of a football game."
When talking about the return of cornerback Asante Samuel, Smith praised the net effect it has had on the other members of the secondary:
"Asante has a lot of experience, and he's been a big plus for our football team, not just the secondary. Asante studies the game extremely hard and has great insight for our younger players. We've kind of missed him the last few weeks. We played three snaps the previous game and none this past week, so it'll be good to have him back out there."
Smith also talked about how exciting the atmosphere would be at the Georgia Dome with both teams fighting for playoff position:
"It's a game that definitely has playoff consequences for both football teams. It should be loud. It should be electric, and we're looking forward to getting back out on the field. Anytime you don't get the result you want the previous week, the next week can't get here quick enough."
The Giants play the Falcons on Sunday with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. The game will be televised on Fox and the radio coverage of the game will be on STAR 94.1 FM and 790 The Zone AM. For more affiliate stations, check the Falcons' official website.
