Atlanta Falcons' quarterback Matt Ryan was asked to speak about Detroit Lions' defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh at his Tuesday press conference. Ryan said:
"A really talented player. He's got great size, great strength. He's quick off the ball. He's a really good pass rusher. One of the best pass rushers for an interior guy I think in the League, and a guy that plays to the whistle and is relentless. He's certainly someone that you have to account for."
Many Atlanta players and fans have a negative opinion of Suh after an incident that occurred during last year's Falcons-Lions game. Following a play in which Ryan was injured, Suh was allegedly trash talking and taunting other Falcons players. Suh refuted the claim, but several Atlanta players insist they lost respect for the lineman.
Still, Matt Ryan says the Falcons are not concerned with what happened last year. Regardless of his reputation as a dirty player, Suh is clearly a dangerous defensive threat. This year, Suh is second on his team with 6.5 sacks. The Falcons generally do a good job of protecting Ryan, and that will be extremely important this week. Ryan has been sacked 25 times this season, which is seventh-best among QBs who have started at least 13 games.
