The Atlanta Falcons offensive line protected quarterback Matt Ryan well against the Giants last week, as he was hit just three times. Ryan said Tuesday that the team is going to need another good effort in order to beat the Detroit Lions on Saturday.
"Our offensive line did a great job last week against a really good front four," Ryan said. "We’re going against another really good front four this week. They pressure the passer really well and they do a great job against the run also. Two weeks in a row we’re going to have our work cut out for us and we need to prepare well this week and execute on Saturday."
Behind that offensive line, Ryan completed 23 of 28 passes for 270 yards and three touchdowns against New York; the Falcons rolled to an easy 34-0 victory. That win improved Atlanta's record to 12-2, and while the Falcons have clinched a division title, they're still trying to lock down the NFC's No. 1 playoff seed. A win over the Lions would do just that.
