Atlanta Falcons cornerback Chris Hope will appeal the NFL's $30,000 fine, according to John Manasso on Twitter. Hope received the fine because of his helmet-to-helmet hit on New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz in the Falcons' 34-0 victory over the Giants in Week 15.
Hope, in his first season with the Falcons, has made 24 total tackles this season with 16 solo tackles to his credit as well as a fumble recovery. Prior to this season with the Falcons he had spent six seasons with the Tennessee Titans and four with the Pittsburgh Steelers at the beginning of his NFL career, coming out of Florida State.
Hope earns $990,000 in salary this season with a $65,000 signing bonus.
The Falcons are preparing for Sunday's regular-season finale against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the Georgia Dome. Kickoff for that game is at 1 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on Fox.
