2013 NFL Mock Draft: Falcons select North Carolina RB Giovani Bernard

SB Nation's Dan Kadar has the Falcons taking North Carolina running back Giovani Bernard with the 32nd pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.

With the 2012 NFL regular season in the books and much of the 2013 NFL Draft order set, it's time for a new batch of 2013 mock drafts. In the latest from SB Nation's Dan Kadar, the Atlanta Falcons are tabbed to select North Carolina running back Giovani Bernard with pick No. 32:

Like many running backs who turn 30, Michael Turner seemed to look a step slower this season. Bernard is the top running back in the draft this year and could be a workhorse back in the NFL.

Turner managed just 800 rushing yards this season, his lowest output ever with Atlanta. He appears to be on the downside of his career, so getting another running back is almost paramount, as Jacquizz Rodgers is likely not fit for full-time duty.

This is a weak draft for running backs, but Bernard is a player who could make a nice impact in both the running and passing game. Bernard averaged 6.7 yards-per-carry en route to 1228 rushing yards and 12 scores. He also caught 47 passes for 490 yards and five scores. In a 48-34 win over Virginia Tech this season, the 5-foot-10, 205 pound running back rushed for a career-high 262 yards on 23 carries.
