After a late comeback helped them avoid blowing a 20-point second half lead in the divisional round, the Atlanta Falcons will host the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game on Sunday.
Sunday's game will be Atlanta's first appearance in the conference championship game since the Falcons lost to Philadelphia in the 2004 NFC Championship. The Falcons are 8-1 at home this season, including Sunday's victory against Seattle.
Despite hosting the game, the Falcons opened as a 3 1/2-point underdog, according to Odds Shark. The Falcons may not be favored, but they have had the advantage over the 49ers recently. Atlanta has won four straight games against San Francisco with the last meeting coming in 2010.
After facing the No. 1 scoring defense in the NFL last week, Atlanta will face another tough test, this time against the No. 2 scoring defense. San Francisco is also very good at defending the pass, allowing the fourth-fewest passing yards during the regular season. Atlanta finished the regular season with the sixth most passing yards.
Game Date/Time: Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, 3 p.m. ET
Location: Georgia Dome, Atlanta, Georgia
TV Schedule: FOX
Odds: San Francisco opened as a 3 1/2-point favorite.
