SEC Football Final Score: South Carolina Gamecocks Withstand Tennessee Vols Blitzkrieg, 38-24

After the Tennessee Volunteers forced a 10-10 halftime tie and a 24-24 knotup in the fourth, the South Carolina Gamecocks pulled away for a crucial SEC East win. This is the third time this year Derek Dooley’s team has held a halftime tie againsta ranked team and wound up losing by two touchdowns or more.

Marcus Lattimore’s 184 yards led the way, as three Tennessee lost fumbles negated a 300-yard day by Tyler Bray and Matt Simms.

The Cocks maintain their division lead, and only need to win one of their next two games against the Arkansas Razorbacks or Florida Gators to clinch a trip to Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game. Tennessee limps along, and Derek Dooley’s World War II metaphors aren’t about to get any easier to listen to.
