SEC Football Final Score: No Upset In Oxford, Auburn Tigers Stomp Ole Miss, 51-31

Despite his trademark touchdown celebration, Auburn Tigers QB Cam Newton isn’t Superman. That’s why Mississippi Rebels head coach Houston Nutt’s upset kryptonite had no effect on Newton as No. 1 Auburn went NCAA 11 out there, running away 51-31.

Newton threw for 209, ran for 45, and even caught a 24-yard touchdown as Auburn piled up 565 yards. Ole Miss put together 407 yards of its own, though 83 of them came on a single play by RB Jeff Scott that gave the Rebels an early lead. Auburn responded with the toss to Newton and never looked back.

The Tigers get a freebie against Chattanooga next week before welcoming what might be the most dispirited Georgia Bulldogs squad we’ve seen in a long time. Ole Miss has little to play for beyond rivalry games against the LSU Tigers and Mississippi St. Bulldogs, both of whom are now the newly designated official targets of Nutt’s upset magic. It’s like Drag Me To Hell.
