SEC Football Final Score: Mississippi St. Hangs On Against Kentucky Wildcats, 24-17

The Kentucky Wildcats surged into the red zone with under two minutes to go, but Mississippi St. Bulldogs DB Johnthan Banks picked off a Mike Hartline pass to seal the Dawgs’ seventh win. Mississippi St. never trailed

QB Chris Reif put together 190 total yards and RB Vick Ballard added another 103 on the ground in a relatively impressive offensive outburst by Starkville standards. Missy State’s made their mark by playing strong defense. Today they allowed 347 yards of offense, 182 of them to Randall Cobb, but managed four takeaways.

Kentucky falls to 4-5 after a strong midseason that saw them upsetting the tenth-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks, while the Dawgs win their sixth straight with a murderous back-to-back stretch against the No. 7 Alabama Crimson Tide and No. 19 Arkansas Razorbacks. The Wildcats still have a good shot at bowl eligibility, with winnable games remaining against the Tennessee Volunteers and Vanderbilt Commodores, plus a penciled-in W against Charleston Southern.
