D-III Colorado College Just Beat Air Force In Hoops: See, It's Not So Bad

Great thing about college sports: when your team has a disappointing game, you can count on somebody else to have an even worse one within the next couple days. On cue: tonight the Air Force Falcons, a Division I team, lost to the Colorado College Tigers, a Division III team, 60-57 in overtime basketball.

This is at least two levels beyond Jacksonville St. beating the Mississippi Rebels in football, since Jax State is an elite FCS team and Col Col is an especially challenged D-III team playing for a school with only 2,000 students.

Besides having zero players on scholarship, compared to Air Force's entire suite of players on scholarship, the Tigers haven't had a winning record since 2004, and went 0-22 just three years ago. They've struggled in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference against no schools you've ever heard of.

This isn't quite the No. 1 Virginia Cavaliers losing to a NAIA school, but it's certainly enough to ease the sting of the many surprising losses our college teams have endured this calendar year. Yes, for reference, the Kennesaw St. Owls would be expected to dominate Colorado College.
