Auburn Tigers Vs. Alabama Crimson Tide Score: Tigers Down 24-0, Or Four Points Better Than Georgia State

The Auburn Tigers finally stopped an Alabama Crimson Tide drive, punching the ball out of Mark Ingram’s hands as he broke for the end zone, recovering the ball for a touchback. Definitely the Auburn highlight of the day, and it was followed soon after by their lone first down. They soon punted.

Greg McElroy threw his second touchdown, a 12-yard rainbow to WR Darius Hanks, and Jeremy Shelley tacked on a field goal after Trent Richardson dropped a sure touchdown. At this point in the Tide’s game against the Georgia St. Panthers they were up 28-0, so it’s nice to see Auburn is putting on the best road performance Bryant-Denny has seen in weeks. Then again the Panthers averaged 3.36 yards per play, a darn sight better than Auburn’s 1.5.

Cam Newton has completed two of five for 29 yards and rushed seven times for two. Greg McElroy is already having one of the best games of his career, completing 13 of 16 for 265 yards. Julio Jones has 150 of those, and I hate to keep bringing up Georgia State, but the Tide are employing the same gameplan (throw to Julio!) today as they did against the first-year FCS Panthers, with almost the same results.
