VIDEO: Cam Newton As An Atlanta High School Football Player

Before Cam Newton was a sudden scandal magnet, Heisman Trophy leader, Auburn Tiger, JUCO national champion, or Florida Gator, he was the star of Fulton County's Westlake High Lions. Born in College Park, the even-then-enormous Newton has pretty much always played one level above his competition:

Where have we seen that 3:28 end zone dive before? Newton hasn't changed much since his amateur days, and it's just as fun to see the biggest guy on a high school field celebrate by skipping in a circle as it is horrifying to see him stampede SEC defenses every Saturday.

His downfield arm is rarely astounding in this video, but that fade he completes at 3:59 is a pretty advanced throw. And despite what you'd assume about a guy who leads the SEC in rushing, his instincts seem to have been pass-first at an early age. Multiple times he has a very clear running lane, but buys time with his feet to throw. Of course most of the time he just runs, because eff it.
