SEC College Basketball Score: No. 7 Tennessee Knocked Off By Charlotte 49ers, 49-48

Just days removed from their upset victory over No.3 Pitt, Tennessee has dropped their second straight game this time at the hands of the Charlotte 49ers by a 49-48 score. A Phil Jones lay up with 7.4 seconds remaining provided the winning margin for Charlotte. Jamar Briscoe scored 14 points for the 49ers who confounded the Vols with a zone defense for much of the game. The Vols in turn shot a dismal 2 of 17 from the three point range and were only able to convert on 2 of 7 free throw attempts.

Tennessee held a 48-42 advantage late but was not able to seal the deal with the 49ers finishing the game on a 7-0 run. This was a much needed victory for Charlotte who just last week dismissed their leading scorer Shamari Spears from the team. The student section flooded the court in the school's first victory over a top 10 team since it defeated Louisville in 2004.

Scotty Hopson led the Vols with 13 points but was a putrid 6 for 19 from the field. Freshman Tobias Harris recorded a double double with 12 points and 10 rebounds for Tennessee. This was the second straight upset loss for Bruce Pearl's Volunteers who after defeating Pitt lost to Oakland 89-82 in Knoxville.
