Champs Sports Bowl Score: NC State Rocks West Virginia 23-7, ACC Up To 1-1

The N.C. State Wolfpack has put the ACC in the win column with an impressive victory over the coaching-turmoil’d West Virginia Mountaineers. The Pack’s 23 points is the highest total WVU has given up all year, and seven points is the fewest the Eers have scored all year. That’s an old-fashioned ACC ass-whoopin’, friends. (We get to type that once per year, tops, so humor an ACC fan.)

Russell Wilson’s offense outpaced the Mountaineers attack, but it was the five turnovers forced by the State defense that made the difference. Wilson passed for 276 yards and ran for another 41 while throwing a pair of touchdowns, but he also avoided throwing a pick for the first time since Sept. 16.

Pack LB Nate Irving contributed a strip-sack, a passel of tackles, and a fumble recovery in his final game, completing the end of an amazing return to college football after a car accident kept him out of the 2009 season. I, for one, look forward to seeing him in the NFL.
