Georgia Basketball Score: Georgia Takes Slim 34-33 Lead Into the Half Against Eastern Kentucky

Eastern Kentucky freshman Jeff Johnson made six of seven shots while scoring 15 first half points. Johnson has made three of four three point attempts off of mostly wide open looks. The Colonels shot 46% in the first half and surprisingly held their own on the boards with Georgia by an 11 to 10 count. Colonels senior Justin Stommes left the game in the first half with a twisted ankle. No word yet on his return.

Georgia shot 63% from the field in the first half but were hampered by five first half turnovers. Trey Thompkins scored 12 points and grabbed two rebounds . Travis Leslie has scored seven points while Gerald Robinson added six in the first half. Dustin Ware's struggles have continued in the first half as he has yet to make an impact in the game missing his only shot attempt.

If Georgia wants to pull this game out then they are going to have to tighten the defense while making a more concerted effort on the glass. Essentially it is only one Eastern Kentucky player in Jeff Johnson that is doing the damage. Johnson is not that athletic but has shown the entire first half that he can knock down an open jump shot. I look for Mark Fox to make it a priority in the second half to limit Johnson's effectiveness.
