Clay Travis and others are reporting the Tennessee Volunteers will meet the North Carolina Tar Heels in the Music City Bowl. The Nashville bowl is scheduled for Dec. 30 at 6:30. With one potential Georgia Bulldogs bowl now ruled out, a Liberty Bowl bid is looking more likely for the Dawgs.
The Vols and Heels might have had the two most disappointing seasons of any teams in the nation. When Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin fled to take the USC Trojans job, he left behind a depleted roster that new coach Derek Dooley said didn’t have anybody qualified to play second-string. The Heels were supposed to challenge for the ACC title, but scandal forced them to do without almost half of the preseason All-ACC defense.
Neither team has ever played in the Music City, which is entering its 13th year. Last year the Clemson Tigers beat the Kentucky Wildcats.
