As we projected earlier today, the South Carolina Gamecocks will be making a return trip to the Georgia Dome to play the Florida St. Seminoles in the Chick Fil A Bowl. The Cocks were here last night, losing to the Auburn Tigers in the SEC Championship Game. Coincidentally, the Noles lost the ACC Championship Game last night.
The Chick Fil A Bowl is scheduled for Dec. 31 at 7:30 p.m.
Since 1968 the bowl has usually pitted SEC teams and ACC teams. Last year the Virginia Tech Hokies beat the Tennessee Volunteers in VPI’s third trip to Atlanta of the year. FSU has appeared twice, including the first-ever outing, back when it was known as the Peach Bowl. South Carolina participated in the second, and hasn’t been back since.
The Noles went 9-4, boasting the nation’s best pass rush. The Gamecocks also went 9-4 and feature a star-studded offense led by RB Marcus Lattimore and WR Alshon Jeffery.
