This one hasn’t been reported anywhere yet, but it’s pretty simple. All other ACC bowl spots are spoken for, leaving only the N.C. State Wolfpack for the Champs Sports Bowl. The West Virginia Mountaineers have already officially committed to the bowl, so that’s that.
The Champs Sports is scheduled for Dec. 28 in Orlando at 6:30. It’s been around since 1990.
West Virginia has been twice, losing in 1994 and 1997. The Wolfpack went four times between 1998 and 2003, winning twice. Last year the Wisconsin Badgers beat the Miami Hurricanes.
N.C. State went 8-4 this year and almost played their way into the ACC Championship Game on a strong year by QB Russell Wilson and an aggressive defense. WVU went 9-3 in the Big East, with all three of their losses by a single score. They have the nation’s second-best scoring defense. These teams have a common opponent: the Maryland Terrapins beat N.C. State and lost to West Virginia.
