The game very nearly fell apart in the second quarter as Georgia’s defense held State to a three-and-out, only for the ensuing punt hit Bacarri Rambo and get recovered by an MSU special-teamer. Five plays later, State was in position for another score but tried to get cute with a throwback play to QB Chris Relf, which was picked off by Darryl Gamble at the Georgia 10 (with another 15 tacked on for a personal foul).
Georgia proceeded to go three-and-out but saw State receive an offsides penalty on the punt that was enough to give them first and 10 at their 38. An ugly, sloppy game so far for both sides.
