2011 Australian Open: John Isner Tops Radek Stepanek; Marin Cilic His Third-Round Opponent

Georgia Bulldogs great John Isner topped Spaniard Radek Stepanek in the second round of 2011 Australian Open action. This occurred while you were sleeping last night, and I’m just now getting around to writing about it, but we’re all trying very hard here.

Young Isner downed the veteran Stepanek 4-6 6-4 6-2 6-1, coming back from an early hole to take a convincing victory. He’ll take on Croatian Marin Cilic next, No. 15 in the world, who just beat Colombia’s Santiago Giraldo in straight sets. Straight sets! Tennis jargon! Wheeeee!

The match will take place at some point Friday night, ’Merican time. Good luck setting your DVR. Isner is obviously a significant underdog, though the two have never played each other. I know how to use this website! Whooooo!
