With a chance to take the SEC East (and therefore the SEC, because let's be honest) standings lead away from the Florida Gators, the Georgia Bulldogs fell apart in the second frame of overtime, losing 104-91. Up until then it was a fierce contest befitting a great rivalry, with a hostile Athens crowd letting out more than a little frustration from football losses.
↵Florida's Erving Walker was everywhere, finishing with 24 points, many of them the product of reckless, barreling layups that often left Dawg defenders no choice but to foul. None of his shots were more critical than the buzzer beater that sent the game into the deciding overtime period:
↵↵Another guard had a great night in the Peach State -- Georgia Tech's Iman Shumpert recorded the first Yellow Jacket triple double since Kenny Anderson as Tech won 72-57. Not only did Shumpert finish with 22 points, 12 boards, and 11 dimes, he also held Virginia Tech's Malcolm Delaney to eight points, the lowest total of the season for the Hokies star.
↵And the Kennesaw St. Owls lost the (adorbs alert!) "Battle of I-75" to the Mercer Bears, 78-70, despite showing up in baby blue unis for Prostate Cancer Awareness Day.
