VIDEO: Zack Follett Explains Matthew Stafford 'China Doll' Comment

This Jay Cutler thing just keeps going. Detroit Lions LB Zack Follett, who criticized Cutler for not having the guts or heart to play on a Grace II MCL sprain, might want to take a break from talking about injured quarterbacks. He also called former Georgia Bulldogs QB Matthew Stafford "a china doll" in reference to Stafford's prolific injury history.

Cue the outrage! Yes, of course the media took that and ran with it instead of wondering whether it was just a case of a football player misusing an ancient term while being asked to share his thoughts on everything in the world. He actually meant it as a compliment, which sounds strange, but if you look at the rest of the quote, you can see he just used the wrong word. Maybe should've gone with "unlucky" or something like that:

↵↵Stafford, good guy. He's a china doll right now. Anytime he gets hit, he goes down. Hopefully, it's just patiently waiting for him, because the kid is an awesome talent. He has a tremendous arm. The throws that he makes during practice when no one can touch him, he looks like an All-American quarterback, but put him in a game, and you hit his shoulder. So hopefully, say a couple prayers, keep him healthy next year.

So yeah, nothing malicious, and he seems like a nice guy, but it would probably be in everyone's interest for linebackers to avoid discussing quarterback injuries, including Cutler's, whenever possible. Here's Follett humbly vlogging (the j is silent) on the kerfuffle:
