With National Signing Day Near, Ray Drew, Isaiah Crowell Set To Give UGA Yes Or No

National signing day is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 2 (next week!). The Georgia Bulldogs have already pulled in a good class based around Mark Richt’s return to the homegrown philosophy that helped win the program SEC titles in the early part of the last decade. But it could get a whole lot better, and a little bit more Peach State, by the time those faxes are done rolling in*.

Five-star DE Ray Drew, who’s clearly having fun with this process, will announce Friday at 10 am EST whether he’ll join the Dawgs, Auburn Tigers, LSU Tigers, Clemson Tigers, some other Tigers, Miami Hurricanes, or his secret mystery “shock the world” school. You can’t type about Drew without mentioning something about him being an ordained minister, which certainly makes clear his excellent sense of the dramatic.

Woe unto anyone who dares to make a prediction prophecy about Drew.

Five-star RB Isaiah Crowell will wait until signing day to commit, but he’s at least a little bit easier to read. Just like Jay Rome and Malcolm Mitchell, it’ll come down to Georgia vs. the Alabama Crimson Tide. Crowell canceled a late visit to Auburn after attending a UGA basketball game.

If I had to bet, I’d expect Crowell to become a Dawg.

  • Faxes do not roll. They fly over the airwaves via satellite.
