Georgia Bulldogs basketball seemed to have turned the corner at one point this season, and never more so than when Mark Fox’s team scored an upset of the Kentucky Wildcats. The Dawgs’ heartbreaker of a loss to the Florida Gators was at least an encouraging effort, but today’s showing at Rupp Arena isn’t going to impress much of anybody unless things turn around.
Georgia trails 39-24 at the half.
It’s still only halftime, of course, but Georgia’s shooting a dismal 36.4 percent to Kentucky’s 51.4. And the Dawgs have turned the ball over an alarming eight times already.
Kentucky’s Doron Lamb leads all scorers with 11, followed by teammate Darius Miller’s 10. Georgia’s leading scorers are Dustin Ware and Gerald Robinson, who have only six each. Kentucky has hit half of its 12 threes, including three by Lamb.
A positive note: the Dawgs have missed only one of their nine free throws.
