Booker T. Washington WR/DB Zack Witchett’s scholarship has been revoked by the Georgia Bulldogs, Michael Carvell reports. Witchett was recently suspended for three games by high school coach Stanley Pritchett for violating team rules, which appears to have contributed to the revocation.
The Atlanta athlete has been a Georgia commit since June. He’s rated as a three-star prospect by Rivals, the No. 40 player in the state and No. 58 overall wide receiver.
Witchett had actually been dismissed from his high school team earlier this season before rejoining them later, though it’s not clear whether that was a separate issue. Anybody know?
In light of his recent Fulmer Cup win, Mark Richt really can’t take any more chances on potential troublemakers, both for practical and PR reasons. No word on where Witchett might land, though he was also offered by the Minnesota Golden Gophers, West Virginia Mountaineers, and Toledo Rockets. The loss leaves the Dawgs with two likely wide receivers in their 2011 class.
