2011 NFL Draft: A.J. Green, Da'Quan Bowers, NIck Fairley Top Three Prospects Now That Andrew Luck Is Out

With Thursday’s news that Stanford Cardinal QB Andrew Luck will be staying in school, which SEC or ACC players are most likely to take advantage of that now vacant front-runner spot? Mocking The Draft polled its community on whether Georgia Bulldogs WR A.J. Green, Clemson Tigers DE Da’Quan Bowers, or Auburn Tigers DT Nick Fairley should go No. 1 in a Luckless world.

(They didn’t limit the poll to just SEC or ACC players. It just happens that all of their potential No. 1 choices play in our conferences.)

After over 500 votes, Green edges out Bowers, 41 percent to 32 percent. Fairley has 16 percent, with “Other” taking nine (popular Others included LSU Tigers CB Patrick Peterson, Missouri Tigers QB Blaine Gabbert, Alabama Crimson Tide DL Marcell Dareus, and so forth).

While Green hasn’t officially declared yet, Luck’s decision to stay pretty much seals the deal. Not because MTD says so, but come on. Even if Green was going to be a No. 4 pick, now he’s the No. 3. That’s just too much money to put off for another year.
