It was reported yesterday by Joe Schad that Alabama Crimson Tide RB Mark Ingram and DL Marcell Dareus would announce their early NFL Draft entry today. WR Julio Jones joined the pair at today’s press conference, with all three announcing their intention to leave Bama early.
Jones and Georgia Bulldogs WR A.J. Green have had a curious rivalry going for years, at least in the eyes of Georgia and Alabama fans. Big-time recruits from the same class with similar body types, they’ve been measured against each other their entire college careers. If Green enters the draft as expected, their eventual draft status will be another feather in the caps of those who give a crap about this kind of thing.
Jones is expected to go No. 6 to the Cleveland Browns in our latest mock draft. I do agree his time in Bama’s offense would make him a great fit and complement for an offense that has featured Peyton Hillis first, Peyton Hillis second, then Colt McCoy’s barely reined-in creativity third.
