The 2010 Georgia Bulldogs now have a win to hang their hats on, extending their winning streak to eight games by upsetting the No. 11 Kentucky Wildcats in Athens. It’s not that massive of an upset — Kentucky was only favored by five points — but it’s still a convincing win against a team of national repute.
Trey Thompkins turned the ball over five times, but scored 24 and grabbed seven rebounds. Kentucky’s Terrence Jones blew up in the second half, winding up with 25 and 10. Kentucky’s unimpressive shooting continued, ending up only 38 percent to Georgia’s 44.9 percent.
Gerald Robinson, Travis Leslie, and Dustin Ware also finished in double figures for Georgia.
The 12-2 Dawgs, 1-0 in the SEC, travel to see the No. 24 Vanderbilt Commodores next. Kentucky gets a softball for its bounce-back game, drawing the Auburn Tigers at home.
