No major surprise here: Florida Gators coach Will Muschamp said Tuesday that he hopes starting quarterback John Brantley can return from injury in time for the team's Jacksonville game next week against the Georgia Bulldogs. Muschamp also said Brantley won't practice during this week, a Gators bye.
Brantley suffered an ankle injury on Oct. 1, against the Alabama Crimson Tide. He's since missed games against the LSU Tigers and Auburn Tigers. Florida has lost all three, with youngsters Jeff Driskel and Jacoby Brissett handling passing duties, along with the occasional assist from Trey Burton.
Things have not gone well, but, again, those are some young quarterbacks facing some good defenses. Expect Florida to give UGA everything they've got. Not only is this a major rivalry game and critical for SEC East positioning, the Gators also stand to lose four in a row if they're not able to notch another World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party victory.
