Georgia Bulldogs running back Richard Samuel will miss at least four games, coach Mark Richt said Tuesday. The backup running back underwent ankle surgery Tuesday morning.
@SethEmerson RB Richard Samuel had surgery on Tuesday morning to "stabilize" his ankle injury. Richt says Samuel will be out a "minimum" of four weeks.
Samuel was named a captain for the game against the Florida Gators. He responded by scoring a touchdown and powering through for the first down that sealed the Dawgs' first victory over their arch rivals since 2007. He's shown a willingness to line up just about anywhere, converting from running back to linebacker and back over the last few years.
On the year, Samuel has 240 yards rushing in relief of Isaiah Crowell, along with 60 yards receiving. That score against Florida was his first since 2009, when last he played tailback.
